EMBL Australia Bioinformatics Resource (EMBL-ABR) interviewed RCC/QCIF Health and Life Sciences Program Manager Dr Jeff Christiansen for its Open Science interview series.
In the introduction to the published interview, EMBL-ABR notes: “Jeff has loads of experience in the area of open data and some thoughtful insights into open science.”
When asked how new biologists should handle their data, Jeff advised them to first think about developing systems and methodologies to describe experimental inputs, methods and outputs that would enable them to share this information with their ‘future self’. “It will make life much easier in the long run to know what worked and what didn’t,” he said.

In early August, Jeff will become interim Open Data Coordinator at EMBL-ABR whilst Pip Griffin is on leave.
QCIF is one of EMBL-ABR’s 11 nodes and is a major contributor in the key areas of compute, data, platforms and training.
