RCC’s Dr Nick Hamilton and the combined IMB Microscopy team and IMB IT team recently won an IMB Impact Award in the ‘Innovation’ category.
The award was announced at IMB’s end-of-year function on Friday, 14 December, at the Queensland Biosciences Precinct.
It recognises the 13-member team’s innovation in infrastructure development to support new technologies, such as UQ’s Lattice Light Sheet Microscope, installed in late 2017.
The Innovation Award recognises a person or team who has demonstrated a significant improvement to processes, systems or practices, or implemented new concepts or approaches that have had, or are likely to have, a lasting positive impact on the institute, university or wider community.
The IMB team — including RCC collaborator Jake Carroll (Associate Director, Institutes Research Computing) — were awarded $500, which went towards a long lunch to celebrate their work.
“It's the third year I have been nominated for the award, though previously individually, and it's nice to finally win! Last year I was a runner up,” said Dr Nick.
RCC congratulates Nick, Jake and the other members of the IMB Microscopy team and IMB IT team on their work and award win.
