William Paul Bell (pictured) has joined RCC as a Research Analyst to work on a multidisciplinary solar energy project administered by UQ's Global Change Institute.
His work will initially involve translating the Energy Economics and Management Group’s (EEMG) agent based model of the Australian National Electricity Market (ANEM) from the Barrine HPC to GCI’s new cluster.
He will also implement Nimrod optimisation and parameter sweeping software for the ANEM model and subsequently author publications on the findings of the modelling.
Other objectives include applying advanced visualisation techniques and introducing other users from the Schools of Economics and Business to UQ’s HPC facilities.
Paul’s recent research involves modelling the effect of renewable energy on the Australian electricity market. He was previously a Research Fellow in the EEMG, School of Economics, at UQ. He contributed to various renewable energy projects within the EEMG. He has authored and co-authored various reports and papers on energy issues.
His further research interests include fostering research and commercial linkages between Australia and North East Asia to help solve fossil fuel co-dependency and promote sustainable development, and modelling techniques that recognise the economy as a complex adaptive system.
