The University of Queensland’s interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) has awarded the Research Computing Centre (RCC) as UQ’s Collaborative Research Platform (CRP) of the Year.
Professor Paul Bonnington, DVC(R&I), said RCC has played a pivotal role in positioning UQ as a national and international research leader.
“This year the award goes to a CRP recognised for its exceptional contribution to research enablement,” said Prof. Bonnington. “UQ’s Research Computing Centre is most deserving of this award.
“RCC has made remarkable strides in establishing the next generation of infrastructure, demonstrating not only technical expertise but also strategic foresight in meeting the evolving needs of the research community.
“Through innovative solutions and continued investment in cutting-edge technologies, this CRP has provided researchers with the tools they need to conduct world-class research across a broad range of disciplines.”
RCC Director Jake Carroll said: “I'm incredibly proud of the leaps and bounds RCC continues to make. Our talented and committed staff are the backbone that delivers innovation, support and an ever-evolving infrastructure that empowers our researchers."
UQ currently has nine Collaborative Research Platforms, including the Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis, Biological Resources, the Protein Expression Facility, and RCC.
UQ’s Office of Research Infrastructure coordinates the operations of the CRPs that are vital to the research function in the University.
Aligned along interdisciplinary lines, the CRPs offer core services and world-class capabilities that are integral towards achieving research excellence.
These CRPs manage high-end equipment, with qualified staff on hand to assist researchers to boost their research capabilities.
