Norwestern Uni seeks surveyees for floating point research

31 Jul 2017

Researchers in Northwestern University’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science have asked RCC to help spread the word about their floating point arithmetic survey.

The U.S., Illinois-based researchers are specifically looking for PhD students and up, in all fields, to complete the survey.

The group is investigating how floating point arithmetic issues affect software development of all kinds. Floating point arithmetic is extremely commonplace and occurs in most software.

If you have used non-integral values in a program, you have probably used floating point, even if you are not aware of the term.

Please complete the anonymous survey on your experiences with, and understanding of, floating point arithmetic. It should take about 10 minutes to complete.

If you program in any way, or manage those who do, the research group is interested in your perspective.
