Harvard professor John Quackenbush's presentation proved to be one of the most popular at this year's UQ-based Winter School in Mathematical and Computational Biology.
Prof. Quackenbush, from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard's T.H. Chan School of Public Health, spoke about using networks to link genotype to phenotype in his talk on Friday, 7 July, co-hosted by UQ's Institute of Molecular Bioscience.
About 240 participants attended the week-long Winter School, coordinated by Dr Nick Hamilton of RCC and IMB.
Other RCC staff who participated in the event included Director Prof. David Abramson, who gave a talk about the advances in computation and infrastructure to support the biosciences, and RCC Research Officer Dr Igor Makunin, who helmed a Genomics Virtual Lab workshop. Meanwhile, Belinda Weaver ran her last Software Carpentry bootcamp as a RCC/QCIF staffer, before starting her new job with the Software Carpentry Organisation.
Winter School, now in its fourteenth year, is an annual event held during the mid-year semester break. RCC was one of the event's sponsors this year.
Presentation slides and selected videos from the Winter School are available.
