This year's Research Bazaar Brisbane conference has been cancelled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ResBaz was due to be held at the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus from 30 September to 2 October.
Its organisers hope the popular event will be back next year.
QCIF Training Manager Mark Crowe, who is on the ResBaz Brisbane organising committee, said they considered continuing with the conference as either a reduced scale face-to-face event or moving online, but decided it was best to cancel it this year.
“ResBaz has always been about networking and community first, and we didn’t feel we could achieve that in these other formats,” said Mark.
“We also realised that many of our usual participants — both registrants and volunteers — will have missed weeks or months of research work because of campus closures, so taking time out for a conference will be even harder than usual. In the end, we felt it was best to wait until 2021 and the opportunity to bring back ResBaz Brisbane better than ever before.”
ResBaz aims to equip researchers with the digital skills and tools required to do their research better, faster and smarter. The conference features workshops, talks, stalls and networking events.
