The Characterisation Virtual Laboratory (CVL) community is seeking researchers, university lecturers and bioimaging professionals to take part in a skills development program to become CVL Champions.
The CVL Champions program’s aim is to create a community that stimulates network engagement across Australian characterisation facilities to raise the awareness of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles and access to the national characterisation computing infrastructure.
The program is designed to provide guidance, methods and tips to its Champions so they can develop and deliver quality, impactful training.
The CVL community covers neuroscience, microscopy, structural biology, atom probe and neutron techniques.
The CVL is a free cloud-based virtual desktop to perform analysis of complex image and microscopy data. It is essentially a virtual computer with all the software you need pre-installed, all embedded in a Web browser accessible using Australian Access Federation (AAF) credentials, and connected to high-performance computing infrastructure to boost analysis workflows.
Selected CVL Champions will be trained in a two-day workshop on 1–2 October 2019 (all costs paid).

The CVL Champions program is part of the Characterisation Data enhanced Virtual Laboratory (CDeVL) project, funded by the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC). The CVL is supported by MASSIVE in partnership with Monash University, Microscopy Australia, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), Natonal Imaging Facility (NIF), and the universities of Queensland, Sydney, Western Australia and Wollongong.
