RCC/QCIF eResearch Analyst Team Leader Belinda Weaver will lead international development work on Library Carpentry at Brisbane’s Mozilla Science Lab Global Sprint on 2–3 June.
This year's Brisbane Sprint will be held in RCC’s seminar room in the Axon Building (47) on UQ’s St Lucia Campus.
During the Sprint, Belinda will work with international collaborators from South Africa, Canada, the UK, the Netherlands and the US on adapting and updating the existing Library Carpentry material developed by Dr James Baker, formerly of the British Library. Interest in this training has greatly increased within the past year, with 10 requests to teach it already received from within Australia. Belinda will present an invited paper on the topic at the ALIA conference in Adelaide in October.
Brisbane Sprint attendees are welcome to work on Library Carpentry, develop their own project, or work on other projects listed on the site, such as STEMM Role Models.
The Mozilla Science Lab Global Sprint brings together researchers, coders, librarians and the public to collaboratively build and hack on open science and open data projects in their communities. This year features four contribution tracks: tools, citizen science, open educational resources and open data.
