Jonathan Hadwen has joined RCC part-time to maintain and support a range of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) digital projects and infrastructure at UQ.

Jonathan, a writer and poet, is currently the senior Web developer on AustLit, a UQ-supported online encyclopaedia of Australian writers and writing.

In his new role, he will maintain systems and support users of flagship HASS digital research infrastructure.

Projects Jonathan is currently working on include continued operation of AustLit and Cirrus; developing a content management system for an upcoming ARC Discovery Project on Aboriginal sport history at the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences; the transition and re-engineering of School of Education assets KooLKIDSMindfieldsi-Connect and CAT-RPM to UQ-controlled servers; and setting up a Solomon Islands grey literature repository for the School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry.

“Jonathan’s position will provide assurances that research infrastructure services will continue to offer the quality, reliability and features expected by the researchers using them,” said Marco Fahmi, RCC’s Manager of Digital HASS projects.

Jonathan will work with UQ’s HASS academics, offering help with business analysis and setting up prototype platforms. He will fix software bugs, add new features, migrate platforms on external systems to UQ and QCIF infrastructure, archive dormant or retired infrastructure, respond to user questions and issues, and help plan for future technical work.

He will also help co-design digital solutions from inception to ensure they are cost-effective and well positioned for long-term support.

Jonathan is co-funded by RCC, UQ’s HASS faculty and the School of Communication and Arts.
