Queensland Nectar Node transition to UQ

14 May 2026

The University of Queensland's Research Computing Centre (RCC) will take over operational responsibility for the Queensland Node of the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) Nectar Research Cloud from QCIF Digital Research from 1 July 2026.

This transition is building on UQ and RCC's extensive experience in delivering national research services and QCIF Digital Research's successful stewardship of the Queensland node since its inception.

UQ and RCC have a long and proven track record in operating national research infrastructure and play a significant role both at state and federal level in the national ecosystem. In partnership with QCIF Digital Research—which has provided outstanding support for Queensland Nectar operations—UQ is ideally positioned to continue delivering the high-quality, reliable services you depend on for your research. Indeed, largely the same personnel will continue operating the services.

ARDC will continue to work with both QCIF Digital Research and UQ to deliver a broad set of digital infrastructure products and services that support the needs of Queensland’s diverse research communities.

This transition will continue to support the Queensland research community by:

  • Leveraging UQ's deep expertise in national research infrastructure operations; building on the strong operational foundation established by QCIF Digital Research
  • Ensuring continued investment in Queensland research computing capability for all researchers, including QCIF Digital Research’s commitment to ongoing end-user training and support in maximally leveraging the Nectar Research Cloud
  • Maintaining ARDC's commitment to supporting Australian research through Nectar Research Cloud.

What This Means for You

No impact to your research. ARDC, UQ, and QCIF Digital Research are working together to ensure a seamless transition with zero disruption to your work. Your virtual machines, data, and research workflows will continue to operate without interruption.

The same great service you rely on will continue under UQ's stewardship, supported by ARDC's ongoing commitment to the Nectar Research Cloud as critical national research infrastructure.
