18 Apr 2018
Prof. David Abramson

RCC’s Director gave a seminar on UQ’s compute infrastructure for science data at Curtin University in Perth on Wednesday, 28 March.

Prof. David Abramson delivered his popular talk, titled “Caches all the way down: Infrastructure for Data Science”, as part of the Curtin Institute for Computation seminar series.

David has presented a similar talk to various audiences over the last few years, including keynote addresses at international conferences, such as:

  • IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Cluster, 2016, Taiwan
  • International Symposium on Grids and Clouds (ISGC) 2017, Taiwan
  • 26th ACM [Association for Computing Machinery] International Symposium on High-Performance Parallel and Distributed Computing, 2017, Washington D.C.

He also delivered the talk at Oxford University last March, and the eResearch Australasia conference in Brisbane last October.

In the talk, David discusses RCC-designed high-performance computer FlashLite and UQ data fabric MeDiCI. Caching underpins both FlashLite and MeDiCI. (Read the seminar abstract).
