RCC Director Professor David Abramson has delivered two keynotes internationally and convened two national events so far this year.
As the recipient of last year’s SCA HPC Visionary Award, David gave an in-person keynote speech in Singapore at Supercomputing Asia (SCA 2023), held across 27 February to 2 March, (HPC Asia 2023 was collocated with SCA 2023).
David presented his talk at the SCA 2023 Inaugural SCA Award Winners’ Lecture Series and spoke about ‘Translational Computer Science and its application to Supercomputing’.
On 9 May, he delivered a similar virtual keynote about translational computer science at the 10th International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE 2023) in Istanbul, Turkey.
On 13 June, David convened the 12th National AeRO Forum in Canberra as Chair of AeRO. AeRO is Australasia’s eResearch industry association. RCC is an AeRO member.
David also chaired Australasian Computer Science Week (ACSW 2023) in Melbourne from 31 January to 3 February.
ACSW is organised under the governing auspices of Computing Research and Education (CORE) Association of Australasia. David is the President of CORE and was re-elected to this position at the CORE annual general meeting held during ACSW 2023.
David opened ACSW 2023 and presented the CORE Awards.
RCC Research Fellow Dr Chao Jin delivered a lightning talk at ACSW 2023 called ‘Tuning Parallel Applications on Software-Defined Supercomputers’ about a project he is working on with David.
Later this year, David is hoping to attend eScience 2023 in Cyprus (he is the Chair of the IEEE eScience Conference Series Steering Committee) from 9–13 October, and SC23, the world’s largest supercomputing conference, in Denver, Colorado, USA from 12–17 November.
