Aaron McDowall, a longtime University of Queensland IT staffer, has joined RCC as a Research Computing Systems Administrator.
Aaron joined the team late last month and reports to RCC Research Computing Systems Engineer Owen Powell.
Owen said Aaron brings many years of experience in large, complex network and server infrastructure support to RCC's core infrastructure team. “His energy and enthusiasm are infectious, and I'm thrilled to be working with him,” said Owen.
Aaron said he decided to join RCC, “To work with new technologies amidst a great team of people.”
Aaron has worked in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at UQ for the last 12 years in a variety of roles, most recently as a System Administrator in the Infrastructure Operations team in ITS.
At UQ, he has also worked on mobile phone development, web development and database development.
He also once served as a Major Incident Manager at UQ that dealt with priority IT incidents.
Before joining UQ, Aaron ran his own small business providing specialised IT services for small businesses within the property industry, drawing on contacts he made during his years working in commercial property management.
Aaron has a Bachelor of IT (Software Information Systems), Bachelor of Business (Hotel Management), and Master of Property all from UQ.
