RCC's Director will give a seminar at Oxford University's e-Research Centre on Friday, 17 March about UQ’s compute infrastructure for data science.
Prof. David Abramson will talk about high performance computer FlashLite and data fabric MeDiCI in the seminar titled: ‘Caches all the way down: Infrastructure for Data Science’. Caching underpins both FlashLite and MeDiCI. (Read the seminar abstract).
Prof. Abramson is spending two weeks as a visiting professor at the Oxford e-Research Centre (OeRC). As well as exchanging information and giving seminars, he will explore opportunities for sharing and collaboration between RCC and OeRC. RCC's engagement with the Zooniverse project (read about it here) is a good example of the types of collaboration being explored. He will also work with the Oxford Computational Biology group on applications of RCC's Nimrod software to problems in cardiac simulation.
Prof. Abramson travelled to England via Taiwan to give his 'Caches all the way down' talk as a keynote speech at the 2017 International Symposium on Grids and Clouds.
