A RCC and Centre for Advanced Imaging project has created a new workflow that has significantly reduced the human effort required to collate and store microscope image files and curate metadata.
Over the last year, UQ’s Centre for Advanced Imaging worked with RCC’s Dr Carlo Hamalainen to develop a workflow for uploading images from microscopes and other imaging devices to a RDSI data collection, complete with associated metadata.
This culminated in the ImageTrove project. Users log in with their AAF credentials, upload images from their instruments to a DCMTK server, which is then automatically imported along with metadata to a MyTardis repository (a web front-end to a PostgreSQL database).
Over the next few months, RCC’s Dr Edan Scriven shall continue this work by adapting this workflow for use by UQ's Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis. The new workflow will also contain tools for uploading data and metadata into other repositories, such as DaRIS or UQ eSpace, along with other tools, such as for creating DOI records.
