Calls are now open for supercomputing time on FlashLite, Raijin, Magnus, and MASSIVE in 2018.
If you are interested in using these high performance computers (HPCs) for your research between January and December next year, please consider applying via the National Computational Merit Allocation Scheme (NCMAS).
NCMAS 2018 information and application forms are available online. Applications close at 8pm AEDT, Friday, 20 October 2017.
NCMAS is the premier competitive program for provision of HPC resources for scientific research in Australia. NCMAS 2018 offers more than 200 million CPU-hours on the following four national HPC facilities:
- Raijin (NCI)
- Magnus (Pawsey Supercomputing Centre)
- MASSIVE (Monash)
- FlashLite (UQ/RCC/QCIF).

QCIF allocations available on FlashLite and Raijin
In addition to allocations available through NCMAS, QCIF has purchased a share of time on the Raijin supercomputer at NCI. This share is made available to researchers at QCIF member universities, which includes UQ, and is a great way for early career researchers to try out their scientific code on Raijin and get a track record on the machine. Track record is an important consideration in assessing NCMAS applications.
Access to HPC FlashLite is also available outside of the NCMAS process to UQ researchers via QCIF. But you will still need to make a case for needing a machine with the capability of FlashLite.
