Harvard professor John Quackenbush will return as a keynote speaker at this year's UQ-based Winter School in Mathematical & Computational Biology.
Prof. Quackenbush, from the Harvard School of Public Health and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, last spoke at the Winter School in 2015, at which he received a speaker prize by popular vote.
He will speak at this year's Winter School, 3–7 July, about using networks to link genotype to phenotype.
Other international speakers lined up for the event include Associate Professor Nicole Cloonan of the University of Auckland and Dr Helen Kilpinen of University College London.
In total, more than 30 speakers will present at Winter School across the week, with other keynote presenters including professors Christine Wells of the University of Melbourne, Dave Edwards of the University of Western Australia, and Associate Professor Marcel Dinger of the Garvin Institute of Medical Research.
Topics this year will include next generation sequencing and bioinformatics, advanced data visualisation, systems and synthetic biology, advanced single cell analysis, and populations and ecologies.
Software Carpentry in R and Galaxy workshops will also be run in conjunction with the Winter School.
