Tech Talk: Using Docker-like Containers in Service Deployment
Containers represent a modern way to create a clean, reproducible environment on computers. Using containers allows developers to create an environment that is easy to replicate and deploy and also means that programs running inside a container will be consistent. This makes them particularly interesting and useful to researchers.
The following speakers will speak at the Tech Talk on Friday, 6 April:
- Ian Thomas, Research Engineer (Compute Methods), Research Capability Unit, RMIT University
- Soroor Hediyeh Zadeh, Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research
- Sven Dowideit, Software Engineer, CSIRO.
If this Tech Talk is of interest to you (or you just want to hang out with some other research data folk!) then come along to one of the live-linked venues around Australia. QCIF is the host of the two Queensland hubs at UQ St Lucia and USQ Toowoomba. The UQ venue is RCC's videconferencing/seminar room in the Axon Building (47).
The talks, from 3pm–4pm AEST, are followed by networking and discussion at the seven Tech Talk hub locations around Australia. All are welcome to join this informal event, either in person or virtually online. Please register (it's free) for catering purposes.
The monthly Tech Talk is an initative of ANDS, Nectar, and RDS, including nodes QCIF, Intersect, VICNode, eRSA and Pawsey.
