Brisbane HealthHack 2016
RCC is co-sponsoring this year’s Brisbane HealthHack, a data hack weekend across 14–16 October dedicated to solving important healthcare and medical research problems.
Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Perth will also host HealthHacks on the same weekend.
Participation is free, whether you bring a research problem to the table as a researcher, or donate your skills to the hack as a software developer, user experience (UX) designer, data analyst or visualiser.
For the first time, free childcare will be available at all HealthHack sites. Free food and drink is also provided to participants.
RCC eResearch Analyst Dr Nick Hamilton will serve as a “Problem Wrangler” at the Brisbane HealthHack. He is currently seeking “Problem Owners”, i.e. researchers with healthcare/medical research problems that they would like to propose be solved over the HealthHack weekend. Please contact Dr Hamilton (n.hamilton@imb.uq.edu.au) if you are interested in joining Brisbane’s HealthHack as a “Problem Owner.”
For those curious as to what goes on at HealthHack, its website features an excellent blog by a UX designer about her experience. Also, Dr Hamilton has put together a Storify page of his photos from last year’s Brisbane HealthHack.
The Brisbane HealthHack will be held at River City Labs in Fortitude Valley. Register via the HealthHack homepage.
