Technology-related documentary series at UQ
RCC's Marco Fahmi is organising fortnightly screenings at UQ of documentary films on topics at the intersection of technology, research and social issues.
The screenings will run until 30 November 2017. Entry is free, all are welcome to attend and no registration is required. Screenings will occur on Thursdays, starting 4pm, in room 218, Michie building (#9), St Lucia.
The series, titled “DHSS@UQ” (Digital Humanities and Social Sciences at UQ), is a joint initiative between RCC, UQ’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and UQ Library to promote the use of computing in humanities and social sciences research.
The next documentary screening, on Thursday, 21 September, is Helvetica, a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture.
Upcoming documentaries include Oscar-winning film CitizenFour; The Startup Kids, which includes interviews with the founders of Vimeo, Dropbox and Soundcloud; We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks; and Gameplay: The Story of the Video Game Revolution.
