Tech Talk: Deep Learning
1 September 2017
3:00pm to 5:00pm
Room 505, level 5, Axon Building 47 (UQ St Lucia)
Deep Learning is helping to provide compelling answers to research questions. The same artificial intelligence approaches that are powering self-driving cars and reading your handwriting are being used to make sense of the research data deluge. This month’s topic will give a tour of deep learning approaches as applied to real research problems across many fields.
Speakers:
- Colin Jacobs, Swinburne University: Finding Einstein's lenses using Deep Learning
- Dipak Paudyal, ESRI Australia, University of Queensland: Machine/Deep Learning for Geospatial Analytics
- Trung Pham, University of Adelaide: Robot vision with Deep Learning.
ANDS, Nectar, and RDS nodes — QCIF, Intersect, NCI, TPAC, VICNode, eRSA and Pawsey — have joined forces to organise a monthly video-linked Tech Talk, which involves virtual and face-to-face meetings in various locations around Australia. All welcome. Please register (it's free) for catering purposes.
